    EAST HARTWICK — Evelyn Mary (Evie) Foss, 72, of East Hardwick died on Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at her home following a short illness. She was born on March 4, 1933, in St. Johnsbury, the daughter of Theodore G. and Agnes (Mackay) Farrow. She graduated from Peacham Academy in the class of 1951. She continued her education at the University of Vermont. On July 20, 1952, she married Frank Irving Foss in Peacham. She and her husband operated the Elkins Tavern boarding house in Peacham. Following a Peacham Academy dormitory fire in the late 50s they turned their boarding house into student housing for boys attending the academy. In 1961, she and her family moved to East Hardwick. She was employed for many years in the administrative office at the Hardwick Elementary School. She enjoyed music, sewing, knitting, quilting, gardening and being with her family. She was a member of the Peacham Congregational Church, a 50-year member of the Diamond Chapter Order of the Eastern Star in Danville and a 25-year member of the Hardwick Rescue squad, at various times serving as president, training office and trustee. For many years she was treasurer of the village of East Hardwick. She was a 4-H leader for East Hardwick, a 30-year member of the Barre-tones Barbershop Chorus; a member of St. Andrews Society and sang in the Kilted Chorus for several years. Her survivors include a son, Brian Foss of East Hardwick; four daughters, Sharon Standingbear of Maury, N.C., Maxine Foss of Barre, Wendy Foss of Drummond Island, Mich., and Tracy Foss of Georgetown, Maine; a sister Marjory Cassidy of Groton and two brothers, Theodore Farrow of Webster, Mass., and Cedric Farrow of Shelburne; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank Foss, on July 10, 2000. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Northern Vermont Funeral Home, 60 Elm St., Hardwick. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 22, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the United Church in Hardwick with the Pastor Judy Waible officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Peacham Cemetery in Peacham. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network, P.O. Box 38, Lake Elmore Vermont 05657. Northern Vermont Funeral Service in Hardwick is in charge of the arrangements.

    Marjory Ruth (Farrow) Cassidy, 78, of Scott Highway, South Ryegate, Vt., died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, May 30, 2020. She is a descendant of James Whitehill and Mary Whitehill Miller.
    Marjory was born in St. Johnsbury, Vt. on Aug. 31, 1941 to Theodore G. and Agnes Blair (MacKay) Farrow. She grew up in Peacham on the family farm, was a graduate of Peacham Academy, Class of 1959 and of Champlain College in 1960. On Sept. 23, 1977 she married William ?Bill? Cassidy.
    She served as the bookkeeper for 13 years at HO Taylor Chevrolet in Wells River, Vt. prior to working along with her husband, running his business, Cassidy Crane Service.
    Marjory served the community as a member of the St. Andrews Society, was involved with the Whitehill family reunion, and was active in the Peacham Academy Alumni where she was the secretary of the Peacham Academy Alumni.
    She loved life! Family was Marjory?s number one priority. She loved daily contact as well as special family gatherings. She enjoyed horses and dogs. In her free time she enjoyed cooking, reading, tending her flower gardens, picking berries, taking trips, and doing puzzles. She was famous for her sugar cookies and her sugar on snow.
    Marjory is survived by her husband of over 42 years, William Cassidy; five children: Michael J. Davidson and wife Debra and their daughter Tonya Bonvouloir; Denise M. Baril and husband Rick and their children, David Burroughs III, Devin Burroughs, Danielle Burroughs, Carson Baril, Noah Baril, and Tristian Baril; Christopher M. Davidson and wife Lori and their children, Mark Davidson, Cooper Davidson, and Camden Davidson; Janice G. Hatch and husband Preston and their children Bradle y Cassidy and Scott Hatch; and Jodi L. Hart and husband Patrick Hart and their children Patrick Hart, Jr. and Courtney Hart; 18 great grandchildren; two brothers, Theodore Farrow, Jr. and Cedrick Farrow; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Evelyn Foss.
    A memorial service will be held in the Groton United Methodist Church, with a date and time to be published.
    A private burial will be in the Peacham Village Cemetery.
