      It is with great sadness we announce the
      peaceful passing of Emile Joseph
      Melanson, age 98, of Amherst, NS. Emile
      passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at the Cumberland Regional
      Health Care Centre with family members by his side.
      Born in Shemogue, NB, he was the son of
      the late Dennis and Angeline (Gallant) Melanson.
      Emile was a Veteran of WW II, serving
      with the Canadian Army, with NB Rangers and Carlton York regiments,
      serving in Italy, France and Holland. After returning to
      civilian life, he worked 7 years at Enamel and Heating Sackville NB
      then 33 years with Brookfield Dairy (Scotsburn) Amherst NS. He was a faithful member of
      Holy Family Parish, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Br. # 10,
      Amherst, a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group and a 3rd degree
      member of the Knights of Columbus.
      He will be dearly missed by daughters
      Diane (Kenneth) Bangerter, Freelton, ON, Shirley (Gregory) LeBlanc,
      Amherst, NS, Debbie (Leslie) Lohr, Victoria BC, Charlene (David)
      Burden, Sarnia, ON, Monique (Donald) White, Dartmouth,
      NS; sons Alan, Amherst, NS, Stephen (Elaine), Lower
      Sackville, NS.
      Emile was the beloved Grampy of Jason
      (Stacey), Tim (Tatyana), Joel (Angela), Derek (Michelle), Christina,
      Christa, Kimberlea (Jean Denis), Thea (Bryan), Jeff (Chelsea), Tracy
      (Kevin), Aaron (Aleshia), Nicholas, Matthew, Emily, Alicia (Marty),
      Joey (Robin), Julie (Russell), David, Mason, Olivia and
      Hunter.
      Great-Grampy to Darina, Evan, Sebastian, Christian,
      Arianne, Chloe, Megan, Taylor, Dylan, Jared, Alice, Freya, Gray, Noah,
      Ethan, Ellie and Sidney.
      He always looked forward to the summer
      with family and spending time at the cottage. He will be greatly missed by
      his sister-in-law, Viola Corbett, Amherst, NS and loved by many nieces
      and nephews.
      He was predeceased by his wife
      Dorilla, infant son Emile Jr., brother Lionel Melanson, sister Edna
      LeBlanc and half-brother Fred Duguay.
      Arrangements are under the care and
      direction of Jones Family Funeral Centre,
      70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). On what would
      have been Emile?s 99th birthday, Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11 am,
      Funeral Mass will be celebrated from Holy Family Parish Church,
      followed immediately with his interment beside his wife Dorilla in the
      St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst, NS.
