      Advocate, The (Baton Rouge, LA) - Saturday, January 8, 2000

      A resident of Baker and a former resident of Clinton, he died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at Flannery Oaks Guest House, Baton Rouge. He was 77 and a native of Stephensville. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was shot down twice and managed to escape in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart with Oak Cluster, World War II Victory Medal, America Campaign Medal, Air Medal, Asiatic Campaign Medal, and later for the Berlin Airlift, aMedal for Humane Action. Visiting was at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services at noon Saturday, conducted by the Rev. Fred Youngs. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge. Survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie D. "Tina" and Don Gremillion, Baker, and Toni Gene D. and Joe Farah, Corpus Christi, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard "Lenny" and Roselin Duval, Bambridge, Ga., and David L. and Therese Daspit Duval, Loranger; two sisters, Carrie Derouen, New Iberia, and Lena Cortez, Morgan City; 10 grandchildren, Joey Farah and Michael Farah, both of Corpus Christi, Shannon Andre Gremillion, Baker, Danielle Rene Duval andRene Yvonne Duval, both of Hayward, Calif., Dave Duval, Florida, and Naomi, John, Ronnie and Daniel Duval, all of Loranger; a great-granddaughter; and a number of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Williams Duval; parents, Egbert K. Duval and Ouida Stephens Duval Aucoin; and two grandchildren, Robert D. Gremillion and Michael Joseph Duval. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church, Baker, and a former member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church, Clinton. He was a member of Clinton Lions Club, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Retired Airforce Association and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Bishop Antoine Blanc Assembly.
