      Age 88, of Verna's Cozy Home, Grosses Coques, formerly of St. Alphonse, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019 in Digby General Hospital, Digby. Born in St. Alphonse, he was the son of the late Joseph Fidelis and Florence A. (Maillette) Comeau. Fred was a Veteran of the US Navy having served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Clare Branch No. 52, Saulnierville. Fred always enjoyed watching Red Sox baseball, Patriots football and in his spare time, became an avid curling player at his local club where he was a founding member. One of Fred's most enjoyed hobbies was the reforestation of the trees on his land. He is survived by children, Donald J. Comeau (Dawn Marie), Ronald J. Comeau (Theresa Anne), Michelle (Jody) Comeau; grandchildren, Scott Joseph (Maria) Comeau, Jillian Comeau (Tim Amero), Ben Comeau, Adam Comeau; long-time companion, Grace Comeau, Grosses Coques; sisters, Mae Noonan, Joan Comeau, Barbara Wigman. He was predeceased by his wife, Norma; sister, Alice Sutton. Cremation has taken place under the care of Meteghan Funeral Home where visitation will be Thursday, March 7th, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass, officiated by Rev. Wieslaw Papuga, will be Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Alphonse Church, followed by a Veterans Service. Burial in parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
