    • AMIRO, Joseph Charles ?Joe? ? age 77, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2019 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Born August 20, 1942 in Halifax, Joe was a son to the late Joseph and Marion (Cook) Amero. He and his wife both worked at Dominion Textiles in Yarmouth until it closed, after which they continued working together at the Red Knight until their retirement. After his wife?s death in 2013, Joe continued the tradition of sending birthday and Christmas cards to the entire family. Many people will remember meeting Joe one of his many walks, and once he was unable to walk to town anymore, he faithfully pedalled on his exercise bike three times a day, continued making his famous soups and he enjoyed the challenge of word-find puzzles. Joe much appreciated his daily visits and drives to town with his sister Eileen. Joe was always there for his family and will be lovingly missed by all of them. Joe is survived by brothers and sisters, Jim, Pubnico; Pat (Beth), New Minas; Wayne, Yarmouth; Eileen Surette, Yarmouth; Catherine Murphy, Yarmouth; Agnes Amero, Yarmouth; a sister-in-law, Helen Amero; a godchild, Sheryl Pasterios, Dartmouth and many nieces and nephews. Aside from his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Donna (Forbes) Amiro and a brother David Amero. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Sunday with prayers at 7 p.m., followed by visitation from 1-2 p.m. and the funeral at 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 7 both at H.M. Huskilson?s Memorial Chapel, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery.
