  1. 4.  Frederick Joseph Doucette was born 17 Oct 1939 (son of Avite Doucette and Elizabeth Frotten); died 15 Jul 2016.

    Notes:

DOUCETTE, Frederick Joseph ?Freddie? ? age 76, Brooklyn, Yarmouth Co., formerly of Mayflower, Digby Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, July 15, 2016 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. Born October 17, 1939 in Quinan, he was a son of the late Avite and Elizabeth ?Lizzer? (Frotten) Doucette. As a teenager, Freddie moved to Banff, Alberta where he was hired as a cook at Lake Louise. A few years later he returned back home and married his girl, Genevieve. Throughout his life, Freddie believed in hard work. He will be remembered by many as a loom-fixer at Cosmos Imperial Mills/Dominion Textiles, where he worked for many years, after which he worked for LaFarge Canada as a cement finisher. He was also a self-taught, skilled carpenter. Freddie had many interests, all of which included his family and the outdoors. He was well-known for his ability to build beautiful strip-cedar canoes and kayaks, not to mention the canoe trips he took with Genevieve, and then with his daughter Carolann, which they still did up to three years ago, along with the many hundreds of friends who tagged along for the annual Easter weekend trip. He also enjoyed mackerel fishing, working in the woods, tree planting and grafting, playing cards and enjoying a good snack of peanuts. Of course, he also loved hunting, and like every good hunter, he had a story about the big one that didn?t get away. In 1962, while hunting with friends in Shelburne, he shot a massive non-typical deer with webbed antlers with a total of 24 points. His story and photos of the deer have appeared in Big Buck magazine, and he was recognized by the Boone and Crocket Club (founded by Theodore Roosevelt in 1887). But most of all, family was the most important thing to Freddie. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 55 years, Genevieve (Vacon) Doucette, as well as their children, Mark (Tina) Doucette, Forest Glen; Carolann (Darren) Samms, Brooklyn; Stephen (Christine) Doucette, Antigonish, as well as grandchildren, Ian, Evan, Tara, Cody, Alicia, Julie, Erica and great grandchildren, Monique, Rebecca, Connor, Rylan, Charlie and Phoenix. Also surviving are sisters, Emily, Evelyn, Lorraine, Marie (Richard), Vivian (Danny) and Elizabeth (Kenneth), as well as brothers, Delbert (Joyce) and Flavien (Dorothy). Visitation will take place from 7-9 Sunday evening, with prayers at 8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, July 18 from St. Agnes Church, Quinan, Father Albeni d?Entremont officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association or to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
