    Notes:

    Dwyer, James Joseph; of Crestwood, NY passed away peacefully on Friday evening December 19, 2008. He was to be 98 years old this Tuesday. Jim was born in New York City December 23, 1910 and raised in County Carlow, Ireland. He returned to New York City when he was 18. Jim was an exceptional athlete. He played forward for the Roscommon Irish Football Team at the Polo Grounds and went on to play in the All Ireland Selective Team Championship versus County Cavan in Yankee Stadium on May 21, 1934. Jim was a driver for Railway Express for many years and worked tirelessly in the funeral business until he was 84 years old. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary (nee Gerrity) in 1973. Jim had tremendous faith that sustained him through the so many years without her. Jim is survived by his four daughters, Maureen Smith and her husband Joseph of Blauvelt, NY, Patricia Sullivan and her husband Michael of Manasquan, NJ, Kathleen Glavey and her husband Dennis of River Vale, NJ, and Eileen Love and her husband Daniel of Sleepy Hollow, NY, along with 13 grandchildren, Michael, Maureen, Patty Ann, Eileen, Brian, Kathleen Mary, Joseph, Colleen, Tara, Maura, Patrick, Danny and Katie and 16 great-grandchildren. Calling hours at Fred H. McGrath & Son Funeral Home between the hours of 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM Monday. Mass of Christian Burial Annunciation Church, Crestwood on Tuesday December 23 at 11AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Calvary Hospital 1740 Eastchester Road, Bronx, NY 10461.
